India on Tuesday November 15 has gathered a mammoth 631 before declaring its first innings for the loss of seven wickets on the second day of second test match against West Indies. At stumps, West Indies was struggling at 34/2.

The last hour of the second day was called off due to bad light. Prior to that, India's new comers Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a wicket each to put West Indies on the backfoot.

Earlier, India's batting fiesta continued on day 2 with VVS Laxman first completing his 17th test century, and continuing his dominance with the bat to remain unbeaten on 176. He shared a 224-run partnership with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who scored a quickfire 144. But Dhoni was lucky to score his century as he twice escaped getting caught behind in three overs, when Cameroon Roche overstepped the ball on both occasions. After that, Dhoni played some magnificent strokes to entertain the sparse crowd at Eden Garden. The poor attendance continued on day 2, with only a few hundred spectators flocking the stadium.

Yuvraj flops again: India's World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh once again failed to grab the opportunity to settle in test cricket. He got out for 25, that too with many lucky escapes, and faced some anxious moments at the crease. He faced 35 balls before he was out LBW to West Indies captain Sammy.

India vs West Indies 2nd Test

After facing follow-on, West Indies lost first wicket early in the second innings. Umesh Yadav dismissed Brathwaite for 9.

West Indies were 64/1, trail by 414 runs with nine wickets remaining. Barath (32) and Edwards (22) were in the middle.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni asked West Indies to play the follow on after Pragyan Ojha claimed four wickets to bundle out visitors for 153 runs in their first innings on Day-3.

Resuming from overnight total of 34/2, visitors just managed to add 119 runs on Day-3. West Indies innings lasted for just 48 hours. It was poor batting performance by the West Indies, which helped India to force follow on. Visitors trail by 478 runs in the first innings.


For West Indies, Darren Bravo was the top scorer with 30 runs.

Surprisingly, the behaviour of the track was dramatically changed on third day after India's run feast on day-2.For India, Pragyan Ojha claimed four wickets while Umesh Yadav took three wickets. R Ashwin scalps two wickets.

Indian pacer Umesh Yadav gave fifth jolt as he dismissed good looking Darren Bravo for 30 runs.

In a amjor blow, R Ashwin dismissed dangerous Shivnaraine Chanderpaul, leaving visitors tottering at 46/4 in their first innings.

Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha struck early to reduce West Indies 42/3 in their first innings on Day-3 of second Test. Pargyan Ojha dismissed kirk Edwards for 16 runs.

Resuming from overnight score of 34/2, West Indies just added eight runs in the total and lost one wicket.

After declaring the first innings for 631/7, Indian bowlers grabbed to wickets before the bad light forced early end of Day-2 here at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

After batsmen piled up mammoth run on board, Indian pacer Umesh Yadav and R Ashwin provided early jolts to visitors. West Indies were 34/2 at the end of day-2 play.

On Day-3, Indian spinner R Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha will be proved crucial for the homeside. The track has become dusty and producing uneven bounce and turn. It will be a daunting task for visitors to bat on.The first task before West Indies will be to save follow on because India will never want to bat in the game after scoring 631 runs. It is always difficult task for the team to bat in the fourth innings here and save the match.

Earlier, Indian skipper MS Dhoni and VVS Laxman put India in commanding position in the second Test.

Dhoni scored his first Test century of 2011 and fift of career while Laxman continued his good affair with Eden gardens.
