Aishwarya Rai Gives Birth to Baby Girl, Congratulatory

After months of anticipation, Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai has finally given birth to her first child in the Indian city of Mumbai. Breaking the news was her husband Abhishek Bachchan. At around 10 A.M. local time on Wednesday, November 16, the actor/producer tweeted, "IT'S A GIRL!

Shortly afterward, Abhishek's famous father Amitabh Bachchan took to his own Twitter account to share his joy of becoming a grandfather. "I AM DADA to the cutest babygirl !!" so his tweet read. He followed it up with another tweet, "A dada ji [a grandfather]... Ecstatic !!!!" before thanking those who sent out congratulatory messages.

Aishwarya, who won the title of Miss World in 1994, was admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital late Monday, November 14 night. Amitabh has since been active on Twitterto offer updates. Hours before the baby's arrival, he wrote, "And as I write, there is still no news from Aishwarya your wishes and prayers with us ... Thank you."
